BinBot & SmartBins Terms and Conditions

Important Summary: By communicating with BinBot or logging into the Resident Portal, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. You confirm that you are 18 years of age or older and an authorized resident or leaseholder of the registered property. Fly-tipping, dumping bulky waste, or damaging electronic locks is strictly prohibited and subject to OMC fines under Irish waste management bye-laws.

1. Acceptance of Terms & Eligibility

These Terms and Conditions constitute a legally binding agreement between you and SmartBins Ireland (operating in conjunction with your property's Owners' Management Company).

To use BinBot, you must:

Be at least 18 years of age.
Be a verified resident, tenant, or property owner of a residential development managed with SmartBins IoT locks.
Provide accurate registration details (Full Legal Name, Apartment Number, and Contact Number).

2. Permitted Use & Bin Store Code of Conduct

BinBot is provided exclusively for residential communal waste disposal. You agree to strictly observe the following rules:

Dry Mixed Recycling (Green Bins): Items must be clean, dry, and placed loose (never inside black plastic refuse sacks).
Organic Food Waste (Brown Caddies): Only food scraps, tea bags, and coffee grounds inside certified compostable bio-bags (EN 13432 standard).
General Non-Recyclable Waste (Black Bins): Domestic bagged waste only.
Strict Prohibition on Bulky Waste: Mattresses, construction debris, electronics (WEEE), furniture, and hazardous paints/chemicals must NEVER be placed in communal bins or left on bin store floors.

3. Remote Latch Operation & Safety

When you request a bin unlock via BinBot (WhatsApp, App, or Web), the latch unlocks electronically for 30 seconds. You are responsible for ensuring that bin lids are closed securely after use and that children or pets are kept away from moving lids and latches.

4. Account Suspension & Data Erasure ("STOP")

You may terminate your account at any time by sending STOP to BinBot. Upon receipt of STOP, all personal records, message histories, and apartment associations are permanently scrubbed from our database under our GDPR policy. The OMC may suspend BinBot access for households found intentionally violating waste contamination rules or causing damage to hardware.

5. Limitation of Liability

SmartBins Ireland provides BinBot on an "as is" and "as available" basis. While we maintain 99.9% uptime, we shall not be liable for temporary internet connectivity interruptions, cellular network delays, or failure of mobile carriers to deliver SMS or WhatsApp messages.

6. Jurisdiction and Governing Law

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the Laws of Ireland. Any disputes arising in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the Courts of Ireland.
